It's not unusual to meet people in the South who were denied the opportunity to play a D&D game. This is and was a culturally embattled world where concepts of what is good and evil or what is right or wrong is constantly in flux. I am so proud of my friends for asking and giving me a chance to introduce them to my hobbies and to give it a fair try.
Our Sunday School Leaders had never had the opportunity--just not something they ever were exposed to, but watching Big Bang Theory members play D&D had piqued their interest. So, we were asked to host. I wanted it to be something they'd remember and enjoy so I used a personal amalgamation of D&D 5th Edition as well as Green Ronin's Thieves' World.
Truth be told: they loved it!
